General Questions
Hubcity Mart is a local marketplace exclusively for students and faculty at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) and William Carey University in Hattiesburg.
Only current students and faculty with valid .edu email addresses from USM or William Carey can register and use the platform.
Yes! Hubcity Mart is completely free to use. We don't charge listing fees, take commissions, or process payments.
Account Questions
Sign up using your university email address (.edu). You'll receive a verification email to confirm your account.
We require university emails to ensure our marketplace remains exclusive to the campus community and to create a safer environment with verified users.
Currently, we're focusing on keeping the platform for the university community. In the near future, we plan to implement a referral system where trusted community members can join as well.
Yes, recent graduates can continue using their accounts as long as their university-issued .edu email address remains active.
Currently, we don't have an account deletion feature available. However, we plan to add this functionality in future updates. In the meantime, if you have concerns about your account, please contact support@hubcitymart.com.
Your data is retained as long as your account remains active or until your listings are deleted. Once we implement the account deletion feature (planned for a future update), users will have the option to remove their data from our platform.
Listing Items
You can sell textbooks, electronics, furniture, clothing, offer services like tutoring, post housing availability, request for rides and more. However, certain items are prohibited, including:
Simply log in, click on "Post Listing," fill out the details including photos, description, and price, then publish your listing.
Yes, you can edit or delete your listings anytime from your listing detail page. To keep the platform current, we encourage you to delete listings promptly once items are sold or requests are fulfilled.
Messaging
You can contact users through our in-app messaging system. When someone messages you about a listing, you'll receive an email notification. Simply check the message tab in the app to view and reply to messages from any web browser or email client.
Currently, users are limited to sending only one message per listing to help mitigate spam. We may adjust this policy in the future based on user feedback and platform needs.
Safety & Transactions
If you encounter prohibited content or suspicious user activity, please report it immediately by sending an email to report@hubcitymart.com with specific details about the listing or user behavior. Our team reviews all reports and takes appropriate action to maintain a safe marketplace environment.
Hubcity Mart does not process payments. Users must arrange payment methods (e.g., cash, Venmo, PayPal) directly with each other when finalizing a transaction. Users are solely responsible for fulfilling their transactional obligations. Hubcity Mart is not liable for any losses incurred during user-to-user transactions.
We recommend meeting in public places on campus during daylight hours, such as the student union, library, or campus coffee shops.
Trust your instincts. If a listing or user seems suspicious, you can report them through our platform. Never share personal financial information with other users.

Yes, the Hubcity Mart website is fully optimized for use on mobile browsers. Currently, there are no plans to develop dedicated iOS or Android apps.
